Here is the one that I built Friday for testing.  The tank in the background will soon become a grill.

That's quite a smoker!!  :o

Thanks Steve, it is the latest in a series.  The horizontal section is for ribs and butts with the vertical section for roasting turkeys and whole chickens.  The horizontal section should make a wonderful; barbecue chicken grill but it has not been tested yet.  Under the covers in the background is a stack of Pecan and Oak.  I am always in search of Hickory.

I've going to be gifted an old used Little Chief smoker.  I plan to use this for sausages, turkey, bacon, jerkey etc. -- things that are smoked in the 165F range.  For the food smoked in a hotter temp range I'm thinking I'll probably get a Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker.  Right now I just have a Weber Kettle knock-off that does a fair job at smoking/bbq but is really better suited to grilling.

Got one of the 1/4" plate doors on my new smoker today.  I think I will cook a ham to see how I like it so far.  Eric I think you will be pleased with a Smokey Mountain.

Randy

Steve what have you tried on your new smoker?

Steve

Not much... just pork butts. I'll be smoking more now that it's warmer and my weight is getting down to where I want it.  ;)

I am doing just that when time permits.  On the pizza list is several people that would like to build one.  I think I can build one for about $30-$40 and you will only need a hacksaw and be able to build it in an afternoon.
